UKRI has an Open Access policy that applies to peer reviewed research articles submitted for publication from 1 April 2022, and to monographs published from 1 January 2024. See the summary of requirements.
Major funders such as the Wellcome Trust have open access policies that also apply to monographs.
Research England introduced an Open Access Policy on 1 April 2016 that applied to REF2021 and is still in place until the new policy for REF2029 is agreed.
Lancaster University also has its own Lancaster University Open Access Policy. Therefore all researchers, including postgraduates researchers (PGRs) and early career researchers, are affected by Open Access developments.
